The Facts
Around 5.5 million people work in the public services sector.
Of these, around 559,800 people work in custodial care, community justice and the police.
In terms of the numbers employed in Coventry & Warwickshire:
Around 88,000 people work in public administration, education and health and social work
And in the future...
It looks like there will be a demand for more people to work in education and health administration.
As well as a need for more young people to enter public service professions to replace the people that retire or leave.
Public administration is a major employer in Coventry & Warwickshire and lots of public service organisations have moved their headquarters to the area. So the future looks bright for job and career opportunities.
A lot of the people that currently work in this sector are well qualified.
There are a wide range of jobs and careers to choose from, but future demand will be for people with higher level qualifications.
